This church was built in 1880.
It was damaged by the 1978 Miyagi Earthquake and was considered for dismantling. But it was decided to relocate and save the old church when the new church was built.
In 2011, the church was damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake.The restoration ceremony was held in July 2019 after the restoration work was completed.
