The three-storey reinforced concrete Gifu Prefectural Office building was completed in 1922; in 1958 the building was extended to the north.
In 1966, a new prefectural government building was constructed, so the old building became the general government building used by the prefectural organizations, and used until 2013.
It was closed due to earthquake resistance, and demolished leaving the southern part of the building. The remained building is currently (as of 2022) not in use.
