This building was constructed as the headquarters of Nihonkai Electric Power Conmany (later Hokuriku Electric Power). It was a tenant building, which also had hotel, restaurant, event hall, and was operated as a cultural center in the area.
From 1945 to 1952, the Toyama Headquarters of the Allied Forces was stationed.
It was registered as a tangible cultural property in 2018.
