This building was built in 1917 as Kurashiki Town Office. Kurashiki Town became Kurashiki City in 1928, and the building was used as the city office until 1932.
It was used as a city facility for a while after the city office was relocated, then it was no longer used.
The building was preserved and repaired in 1971 and is now used as a tourist information center.
