This building was built in 1932 as Kochi Prefectural Kainan Junior High School.
Due to the school system reform in 1948, it became Kochi Prefectural Kainan High School. The following year, the name was changed to Kochi Prefectural Ozu High School.
In 1996, the construction of new school buildng started. The central part of the old school building was left, and new school buildings were built on the left and right.
