Former Miyakonojo City Hall (Miyakonojo City)



Miyakonojo City Hall was built in 1966 and used to 2007. This hall was designed by Kiyonori Kikutake (1928-2011) and it is said one of the symbols of the Metabolism Movement.
This hall was closed in 2007 and Miyakonojo City announced the policy of dismantling. However the requests for preservation were issued, and the hall was temporarily lent to Minami Kyushu Gakuen. But the school could not utilize the building, it was returned to the city in 2018.
Miyakonojo City announced the plan that if it will not be proposed the usage method by January 2019, it will demolished.
And the demolition work began in July.
