Sathmahal Prasada [Ancient City of Polonnaruwa] (Polonnaruwa)



Polonnaruwa was the capital of Sinhala Kingdom from the 11th century to the 13th century. The city flourrished as a Buddist city because the Kings were emphasize the Buddhism dissemination.

This building called Sathmahal Prasada was a stupa built in the Polonnaruwa Period. It is said that the building was built by the moknks from Thailand.
