This building was built in 1912.The school was renamed Morioka College of Agriculture and Forestry in 1944. Then it became the Faculty of Agriculture of Iwate University in 1949.
The building was restored in 1977, and has been used as the agricultural education museum.
It was designated as an important cultural property in 1994.
