The Methodist Kamakura Church was destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
So a new church was built and completed in 1926. It was a two-story building when completed.
In 1941, 33 Japanese Protestant denominations joined together to form the United Church of Christ in Japan.
In 1985, the tower part was added.
