This school building was built in 1885. The school name at the time of construction was "Tosen School", but was renamed "Yamabe School" the following year.
It was used as a school building until 1928, and then used as a village hall, a nursery school, a branch office of city office.
It was opened in 1982 as a Museum of History and Folklore.
