In 1909, this building was built as Yamada Post Office in Uji-yamada City, Mie Prefecture. It was renamed to Ise Post Office because of the city name was changed in 1955.
The building was relocated to Museum Meiji-mura in 1969, and renamed Uji-yamada Post Office.
It was designated as an important cultural property in 1999.
