This building was built in 1910 as Fushiki bank. Fushiki Bank became Fushiki Commercial Bank after the merger, but it closed in 1934.
After that, the building was owned by other financial institutions such as Chuetsu Bank.
It has been used as the Fushiki branch of the Takaoka Chamber of Commerce since 1973.
In 1996, it was registered as a national tangible cultural property.
The building was damaged by the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on January 1, 2024. The walls cracked, tiles peeled, and the building tilted. The Chamber of Commerce moved to a nearby credit union and considered restoring the building, but announced in February 2025 that it would be demolished at public expense.
Then it had been demolished in November 2025.
After that, the Takaoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been holding the "Fushiki Branch Memorial Exhibition" on the second floor of the Takaoka Commerce and Industry Building. (Open year-round, free admission).
And the “
Fushiki Branch Memorial Exhibition”
(written in Japanese) is also available online.
