This building was built in 1939. The design was jointly handled by Sato Koichi and Kunieda Hiroshi. Construction was carried out by Obayashi Corporation, commencing in September 1937 and completed in May 1939.
(Before this building was constructed, the old prefectural office building, built in 1886, stood here.)
It was registered as a national registered tangible cultural property in 2014.
