The Kitamuro Doctor's Office opened in 1868 as a clinic for Chinese medicine and transitioned to Western medicine in the late Meiji period.
The building on this card was built in 1921 as its clinic building.
The Kitamuro Doctor's Office closed in 2019.
Then the building has been repaired and the exterior wall tones at the time of its completion have been recreated. The building is now open to the public as a museum (reservations are required for tours).
In 2020, a total of seven buildings, including the main building, storehouse, and hospital ward, as well as the clinic, were registered as Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan.
