Muhammad Mosque, Baku (Old City Baku)

This mosque is inside the walls of Baku, which was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2000. It is said that the tower was built between 1078 and 1979.
During the Russo-Persian War (1722-23), the tower was damaged by the bombardment of Russian troops from the Caspian Sea and was not rebuilt until the 19th century. Therefore, the Muhammad Mosque is also known as Siniggala Mosque, which means "damaged tower".
