Gate of Saint John [Sankt-Johanns-Tor] (Basel)
The medieval Basel was surrounded by walls. The Gate of St. John is one of the old city gates. It is estimated that was built from 1367 to 1375.
In 1859, Basel City decided to remove the walls, but three gates were preserved, Gate of St. John, Gate of St. Alban, and Gate of Spalen.
