Gate of Saint Alban (Basel)
Basel, Switzerland, had walls that protected the city center during medieval times. In 1859, the city of Basel decided to remove the walls and its gates, but St. Alban Gate and two other gates, and a part of the city walls, were preserved.
About the St. Alban Gate seems to be in the old record in 1230, but it was destroyed by the 1356 Basel Earthquake. The current gate was rebuilt from 1362 to 1374.
