This church is located about 200 meters northwest outside the walls of Ávila. It is included in the World Heritage site “Historic Centre of Ávila with its Extra-Mural Churches.”
The church was built around the first half of the 12th century and is said to be one of the oldest churches in Ávila.
It was designated a National Monument in 1923, and restoration work was carried out from the 1930s to the 1960s.
