San Francisco Church (Antigua Guatemala)



The current building seems to be built in 1702.(?) The church was damaged by the earthquakes of 1717, 1751, 1773.
After the earthquake in 1773 (Santa Marta Earthquake), the capital was relocated, so the collapsed building had been in a neglected. Moreover, it was also damaged by the earthquakes in 1874 and 1917. In the 1960s, the church was repaired but collapsed part is remained.
This church has the grave of Pedro de San José Betancur (1626-1667), and many worshipers visit.
