Former Kitami City Office (former location : Kitami City)
This building is the Kitami City Office, completed in 1955. It was designed by Eiji Miyagawa of the College of Engineering at Nihon University.
The city office also housed a fire station, so a fire watchtower was erected.
The rebuilding of the office had been under discussion since around 1990, but a decision was not made.
Then the building was demolished in 2011. At that time, the operations of the city office were dispersed and relocated to nine facilities in the city.
It was not until 2020 that a new city hall was finally completed.
