Akita Prefecture Memorial Hall was completed in 1918 to commemorate the accession of Emperor Taisho to the throne.
There was
Akita Prefectural Public Hall, built in 1904, at the south of Senshu Park. The memorial hall was built on the south of the public hall. According to the plan, the public hall and the memorial hall were to be connected by a corridor.
However, on April 29, 1918, while construction was underway, the public hall was destroyed by fire. Fortunately, the memorial hall was not damaged, and construction was completed in October.
It was used for over 40 years, but was demolished in 1960. A prefectural library was built on the site.
