Former Iwatsuki Police Station (Saitama City)
This building was constructed in 1930 as the Iwatsuki Police Station. It was the first reinforced concrete building in Iwatsuki Town at that time.
In 1976, the police station was relocated and the building was managed by Iwatsuki City. When the municipal library was rebuilt, the building was used as a storeroom, and in 1982, it was opened as the Iwatsuki Municipal Folk Museum.
In 2005, Iwatsuki City became Saitama City through a merger, so the name was changed to Saitama City Iwatsuki Folk Museum.
The building was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 2016.
