This school building was built in 1893 as Marugame brauch school of Kagawa junior high school.
It became Marugame junior high school in 1898.
The school became Marugame High School in 1948 due to school system reform.
It was planned to be demolished because of the construction of the new school building, but it was relocated and preserved in 1959 at the request of the graduates.
The building was registered as a registered tangible cultural property in 1996.
