This building was constructed in the first half of the 16th century as a customs house and warehouse. (I Heard that the construction began in 1509 and was completed in 1541, but I also saw an article with a different date, so I don't know exactly.)
The entrance hall with pillars was apparently added in the 18th century.
It is now the Museum of Atarazanas Reales (Royal Shipyard Museum), where the colonial period artifacts salvaged from shipwrecks are on display.
