Pop-up card of the former Fushiki Weather Station

2024-08-02

This is a pop-up card created in 2010 of the former Fushiki Weather Station (Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture).
It has been 10 years since I made this card.

Sometimes I review and revise the past pages. When I checked the former Fushiki Weather Station, I found that the wind measurement tower was restored in 2017.

The last time I made the card, the actual building looked like this, so I made the card accordingly, but once I saw the pictures after the tower was restored, I couldn’t leave the card as it was.
I decided to make a version with the tower.

And here is the finished card.

The actual building now looks like this too.

However, the main building was built in 1909 without the wind measurement tower in the left foreground. And the new tower was built in 1938, but the old tower on the roof of the building was removed at that time. Therefore, there was never a time when the new tower and the old tower were used together as shown in this card.

If I was to stick to the building as it was when it was completed, perhaps I should have made the card without the new tower.
But, well, usually the old tower is removed after the new tower is completed, so it is safe to assume that there was a time when both existed temporarily as physical buildings.

And the “Former Fushiki Weather Station Office Building" and “Former the Wind Measurement of Fushiki Weather" are registered as tangible cultural properties, separately. So, I made a pop-up card with the two towers together.

In addition to adding the tower house, I reviewed the height of the roof (the previous one was a bit low), corrected the balance between the left and right sides, and refined the shape of the windows of the tower. So I also made a refined version of the old pop-up card.

Here is the card.
