The site of former Aida Junior High School
The decision to demolish the former Aida Junior High School in Matsumoto City was made last fall, and a farewell tour was held in October, after which demolition work began.
I didn’t go to see the construction progress, but I had been curious, so I visited the site in February.

The area where the school buildings stood was completely cleared and leveled.
The gateball hall is located in the back.
A photo from last year, taken from a similar spot.

This is last year’s photo.

Taken from the parking lot on the south side of the school building.

In the past, there was also a school building in this parking lot, with a covered walkway at the stairs.

A marker post erected in 2002 (Heisei 14) is visible at the far right of the photo.
It reads: “Former Aida Junior High School (Special-purpose Classroom Building)”.

This isn’t that marker, but I found another one leaning against the gateball hall wall.
This one reads “Former Aida Junior High School (Classroom Building)”.

This is likely from the former First School Building, demolished in 2016. The First Building was north of the gateball hall. When it was demolished, only this marker wasn’t discarded and remains here now.
Years ago, I made paper craft of lost building (photo), but I only posted the photos on my blog and haven’t been uploaded them to my main website yet.

I’m starting to feel like making the old Aida Junior High School building too, so I might restart my paper craft series.
