Lost Buildings in Osaka City

2023-05-08

I updated my main site after a long absence.
This update is pop-up cards of the lost buildings in Osaka City (once existed).

The first photo is a pop-up card of the former Catholic Kitano Church.
This church is a postwar building, but it has already been demolished.

I have rarely dealt with postwar buildings on this site until now, but since postwar buildings are also disappearing rapidly. So I have started to make cards modeled of postwar buildings in order to record the lost buildings.

Kitano Catholic Church was first established in 1906.
Later, in 1912, it was moved (the second church building). Again it was moved to the third church in 1924.
Moreover in 1935, the church was relocated again (the fourth).
But the fourth building was destroyed by fire during an air raid in Osaka, and the building on which this pop-up card is modeled was built in 1940.

In 2006, Kitano Church (in Kita Ward) and Mikuni Church (in Nishiyodogawa Ward) merged. Furthermore, in 2008, four churches, Kitano Church, Himesato Church (in Nishiyodogawa Ward), Fukushima Church (in Fukushima Ward), and Sakuranomiya Church (in Miyakojima Ward) merged to form Osaka Umeda Church. This church was to be built on the site where Kitano Church used to be, and Kitano Church was demolished.

This time, I uploaded the pattern of the former Catholic Kitano Church. As usual, I will send a password, so please use it if you like.

A color version is also available. The password is the same.

The pattern download has ended.

For the other cards, I don’t upload the patterns, but only the photos.
I have already introduced them on my blog in the past few days, so I will republish only the photos.
Here are buildings related to Osaka City Electric Bureau.

Former the main building of Osaka City Electric Bureau

Former Kujo Office of Osaka City Electric Bureau

Former Osaka Municipal Electrical Science Museum

While I was making these cards, I heard the news that demolition of Kyomachi Building (built in 1926, originally named Kyomachibori Building) has started. The demolition is expected to be completed by September.
