“Parco de Museum” closes

In FY2021, the Matsumoto City Museum of Art is closed for major renovations. For this reason, the exhibition “Parco de Museum" has been held at Matsumoto Parco. It started on July 3, 2021, and ended on February 28, 2022.
I visited the museum on the last day of the exhibition.

The sign on the wall of PARCO reads, “Today is the last day."

The exhibition is divided into four periods, and the artists have been exhibited in different rooms, with some artists exhibited for all four periods and others exhibited for only one or two periods.

I watched the first and second period, but happened not to be able to come for the third period. (Previous article : “Parco de Museum the second term” , “Parco de Museum”  )

I did not want to miss the 4th period, so I was glad my visit was in time for the last day of the exhibition.

Works by Shunsuke Ohsone, exhibited throughout four periods.

Sculpture by Hideki Iinuma, also on display for the entire periods.

The work by Yayoi Kusama, which I have posted photos of pumpkins in two previous posts on my blog. So this time, I post the “photography OK" sign in front of the exhibition room. I am glad because many rooms in this exhibition allow photography.

As we moved through the exhibition rooms, we crossed the hallway once, and there was a small exhibition area in the hallway as well.

In the latter part of the exhibition, the exhibits are being replaced, so this is the first time I have seen these works.

First up were photographs by Akiko Isobe. Her work had been on display since the third period.

The walls are green, but by the time I got to this room, I had gone through the pink room, the black room, and the yellow room, so I no longer felt it was too gaudy.

The next room is almost a monochrome world, with paper-cut art displayed on the black walls.  These are by Misono Ito. When framing the work, it is left floating, so shadows are cast in the background.
Depending on the size of the work, some of the shadows were effective, while others were difficult to see.

The last exhibition room displayed the works of lacquer artist Haruka Hashimoto. In addition to everyday crafts such as vessels, there were also works in which the lacquer is applied to the human statues. If I were in my 20s, I would have liked it.

On the rooftop was a work by Yasuhiro Chida, which has been on display for four periods. Last time I thought, “I should have taken a video," so this time I remembered to do so.

This is a video with audio

I visited the Parco de Museum three times in total, and enjoyed each visit because the admission fee was a reasonable 500 yen and many of the exhibits allowed photography.

The Matsumoto City Museum of Art will reopen this April, and I hope to visit it again.

I heard that the “Special Exhibition – Celebrating the Enthronement Ceremonies of His Majesty the Emperor / The Reproduction of Shosoin Treasures / Encountering Tenpyo Craftsmanship through the Recreation of 8th Century Works" will begin on April 21, 2022.

This exhibition was opened at the Nara National Museum in July 2020 and travel to Nagoya, Okinawa, Fukuoka, Niigata, Hokkaido, and Tokyo. It is currently on view at the Suntory Museum of Art in Tokyo until March 27. (All works on display are reproduced reproductions.)
